COSTUME DESIGN AND MAKING

A quick and fun millinery project that enabled me to explore different hat making skills while researching and using the medium to communicate a message about an important social issue; I aimed to raise awareness of the use of non-reusable plastics particularly at festivals.

 

When constructing I used a hat block to construct a basic shape, painting it to resemble the patches of damaged grass left behind after a festival. The various plastics stitched underneath the brim are representative of the plastics left behind which are often ignored.

I photographed the product, using it in a poster that would easily communicate my message.
